CD&D SYMPOSIUM - Braver Angels Convention

Symposium: Fostering a Culture of Civil Discourse on College Campuses: Research, Best Practices, and Success Stories. . .led by faculty, students, and leaders of the College Debates and Discourse Alliance

Braver Angels, ACTA, and BridgeUSA have forged an acclaimed program that teaches students to honor ideological diversity, promote civil discourse on college campuses, and cultivate student and faculty leaders to carry the movement forward.

The College Debates and Discourse (CD&D) Alliance has launched hundreds of campus debates, classroom debates, and workshops across the nation— engaging more than 10,000 students in depolarizing dialogue that has greatly enhanced their college education experience.

In this free half-day Symposium (starting just prior to the opening of the Braver Angels Convention), the CD&D team — including faculty and student fellows from several colleges and universities — will showcase…

· Several institutions that have developed vibrant and sustainable campus communities of civil discourse practice;

· Faculty leaders who have effectively implemented the CD&D Curricular Toolkit in their classrooms as a unique and transformational educational resource;

· Metrics and analysis from our John Templeton Foundation (JTF)-sponsored research team, highlighting the impact of our work.

This Symposium is designed for an audience of college faculty, students, and higher ed leaders — and will also be of great interest to Braver Angels volunteers, community members, and Convention delegates. Participants will emerge inspired, informed and equipped to help foster civil discourse on their campus communities.
